McCall & Almy Announces Lauren Donahue Named a 2019 Connect Media Women in Real Estate

McCall & Almy is pleased to announce that Connect Media has recognized Lauren Donahue as a 2019 Connect Media Women in Real Estate award winner.

Lauren Donahue describes commercial real estate as, “An engaging intellectual challenge: it’s about blending the facts and figures of a deal with the personalities at play to ultimately move the business forward.”

Lauren began her career as a project analyst for a real estate investment company where she oversaw the development, repositioning and management of 50-100 unit multi-family and mixed-use projects in various stages of development at the peak of the real estate downturn, and she was key in securing construction financing at a time when development activity in the Boston market had come to a grinding halt. After spending two years as an analyst, Lauren was recruited to oversee operations for another local development firm that was operating on the cutting edge of the intersection between real estate and technology, deploying modularly constructed multifamily projects in the Boston-area and collaborating with a then-early stage startup out of the MIT Media Lab which has since become one of the leading holders of market share in the robotic furniture space.

At McCall & Almy, Lauren has steadily advanced in her career since joining the firm three short years ago. Starting as an Associate and promoted after one year to Vice President of Strategy, Lauren quickly earned a reputation both within the firm and with clients as a problem-solver. Drawing on her broad base of experience in development and asset management, she has carved out a role on the strategic advisory side of the business. Her work includes advising medical, educational and institutional clients on the monetization and management of their portfolios. Some of her recent work includes advising Episcopal Divinity School on a series of transactions, including a deal with neighboring Lesley University, which netted $35 million through a creatively structured set of sale and master lease transactions.

Lauren advises portfolio clients such as TripAdvisor, working hand-in-hand with their internal real estate team to optimize and manage their worldwide portfolio, and with clients such as Bose, Harvard University, and Partners HealthCare. Lauren also works with towns and municipalities, advising local political leadership on the acquisition and disposition of strategically held real estate assets.

In addition to her strategic advisory work, Lauren played a crucial role in developing McCall & Almy’s lease administration group, which has tripled in size during her tenure, managing over 500 leases on behalf of our tenant advisory clients, including big names like Putnam Investments, Bose, Partners Healthcare and early-stage startups alike.

The best part of her job? Lauren is very goal-oriented and enjoys every part of a transaction – from writing RFPs to negotiating deal terms. She tackles every part of a deal, no matter the size, with the same tenacity so clients can rest assured that nothing gets past her.

Colleagues describe Lauren as someone who “thrives on the opportunity to understand further the sensitivities and needs of the firm’s clients which is the key to the current business but also allows her to foreshadow their future business needs.”
